Easily remove the white background from your crayon, pen or pencil drawings with this Photoshop Action. Simply open your image in Photoshop, run the "Remove White Background" action, adjust the exposure and in less than a minute you will have your drawing background-free. Almost instantly your drawing will be separated from the background giving you the freedom to color your drawings easily or even change the background color if you want.
This action works with images at any size and resolution, and once the action finish you can change the background and the drawing colors with the included coloring layers and also enhance your drawings with the included "Intensify Drawing" action.
How to install (action):
- Open Photoshop.
- In the Actions Panel click on the top right icon and from the dropdown menu select "Load Actions".
- Locate the "WeGraphics - Remove White Background.atn" file on your computer and click on Load.
How to use:
- Open your image in Photoshop. Be sure that is set as the background (if not, go to Layer > New > Background from Layer).
- In the Actions Panel, expand the "WeGraphics - Remove White Background" action container.
- Select the "Remove White Background" action and click on the play button.
- When prompted, adjust the Exposure (also the Offset and Gamma if needed) and click OK.
How to change the drawing color:
- Double click on the thumbnail of the "Change Drawing Color" layer.
- From the Color Picker window choose any color and click OK.
How to change the background color:
- Double click on the thumbnail of the "Change Background Color" layer.
- From the Color Picker window choose any color and click OK.
Notes (for a perfect end result):
- Decrease the Offset value or Increase the Gamma value for more intense black colors.
- Once the White Background has been removed, run the "Intensify Drawing" action for a more intense drawing end result.
- To export your drawing with a transparent background simply turn off the "Change Background Color" layer and save the image as PNG.
